Jaysh Al-Islam Denies Connection to Terrorist Imprisoned in Austria
In a communiqué posted January 29, 2009 on Islamist forums, the Salafi-jihadist Palestinian organization Jaysh Al-Islam denies any connection to Muhammad Shawqi Mahmoud, who is currently serving a four-year sentence in Austria for his involvement in producing a video threatening terrorist operations against Germany and Austria.

In late 2007, Sayyid Imam, one of the most influential jihadi clerics in the world, published The Document of Right Guidance for Jihad Activity in Egypt and the World, in which he called to stop the jihad against the rulers of Muslim countries and in the West. Saudi Arabia Publishes Photos of 85 Individuals Accused of Planning Terrorism – Including 10 Former Gitmo Prisoners And 35 Linked To Iran
