Since its founding 16 years ago, MEMRI has published nearly 6,000 print media translations and 1,100 analysis papers, as well as 4,500 translated TV clips totaling over 16,000 translated minutes that have been viewed over 100 million times. To carry out these wide-ranging research efforts, MEMRI has relied solely on the generosity of our donors.

As critical events unfold in the region, we continue to work around the clock, seven days a week, 365 days a year, monitoring, translating, and analyzing primary source material from the Middle East, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Iran, "Bridging the Language Gap" between these regions and the West. But producing and distributing our research and maintaining our numerous websites are increasingly costly undertakings.

• ISIS's ongoing expansion across Syria and Iraq, the spread of Al-Qaeda and its subsidiaries to India, the terror attacks in the West on behalf of these organizations, and the homegrown terror threat – including lone-wolf attacks – that they are encouraging.
• Incitement to violence by the Palestinian Authority and Hamas, and the prospects of the peace process.
• Iran's continuing bid for hegemony in the region and pursuit of its nuclear program.
• The developments in Egypt – which is currently engaged in counterterror efforts in the Sinai and Gaza.
• Antisemitic, anti-U.S., and anti-Western sentiment, all on the rise across the region.
• Developments in South Asia following the U.S. pullout from Afghanistan, and the continued threat from Pakistan.

As a MEMRI reader, you are familiar with our continuing efforts to monitor more media sources in more countries, research more subjects, translate into more languages, and make our research more accessible. For example, this year MEMRI is again translating the most recent media reports from Turkey, focusing, inter alia, on anti-Western sentiment and on the unprecedented upsurge of antisemitic expression and incitement in the country. Additionally, MEMRI has updated its apps for iPhone and Android that allow users to view MEMRI content – videos, Special Dispatches, and Inquiry and Analysis reports – on their phones. We are also in the process of renovating our websites and launching new initiatives.

THE FOLLOWING PROJECTS STILL NEED FUNDING THIS YEAR

• MEMRI TV Project – MEMRI TV monitors and translates nearly 100 Arab and Iranian channels around the clock. This project is a major resource for researchers from government, academia, legislatures, and the media, providing them with a much deeper understanding of complex situations than they can obtain from other sources. This year alone, there were over 16 million views of MEMRI TV clips.
• The Tom Lantos Archives on Antisemitism and Holocaust Denial – The Archives focus on the continuous and ubiquitous expressions of antisemitism and Holocaust denial across the Arab and Muslim world, in addition to hosting an annual event on Capitol Hill to release a report on the past year's antisemitic activity. This year’s speakers included Elie Wiesel, Rep. Paul Ryan, and Sen. Ben Nelson, among others.
• Iran Studies Project – Focusing on the ramifications of the U.S.-Iran détente, including the possibility of Iran becoming a nuclear power, and other vital issues within the country that impact the region and the entire world.
• Jihad & Terrorism Studies – Examining the growth and emergence of terror tactics, including cyber warfare, as well as methods, including the use of social media, for recruiting, indoctrination, and encouraging lone-wolf attacks.
• The Reform Project – Continuing to identify voices of reform that question tradition and undermine the status quo throughout the region, and covering the still-reverberating impact of the Arab Spring.
• South Asia Studies Project – As the situation in South Asia progressively deteriorates towards jihadism, U.S. troops continue to fight and U.S. strategic interests are constantly being challenged.
