Jihad and Terrorism – Following the U.S.'s killing of ISIS leader Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi and the appointment of a relatively unknown replacement, Abu Ibrahim Al-Hashemi Al-Qurayshi, the MEMRI Jihad and Terrorism Threat Monitor (JTTM) project is closely monitoring and exposing jihadis' reactions, including threats to the West.

Iraq, Syria, Turkey, and Russia – As the U.S. prepares to pull out of Syria, ISIS supporters announce that "soon the flames of war [will] come to America" and Kurdish Salafi-jihadis say they are resuming activity in Iraq. At the same time, the threat of the Iran-backed Shi'ite militias in that country continues to grow and Iran continues its gradual takeover of Iraq's banking and financial system. Turkey's invasion of northeast Syria further inflames the Syria crisis as Turkish President Erdogan and Russian President Putin arrive at a memorandum of understanding on Syria and the protection of Turkey's national security; additionally, an increase in the Russian presence in the region is expected.

Lebanon, Iran, Saudi Arabia and the Gulf – The Lebanese prime minister's sudden resignation in the face of ongoing unrest essentially leaves the government in the hands of Hezbollah. Meanwhile, a top Iranian security official declared that Iran's drones are ready to strike U.S. bases across the region and that Iran can destroy Israel in less than 30 minutes; this follows Iran's September 14 attack on the supply of oil to the entire world. Meanwhile, a dispute erupted in the Saudi press following Al-Baghdadi's killing, with some labeling the U.S. as the root of terrorism while others argued that these roots lie in the Arabs' and Muslims' cultivation of extremism in their societies.

Qatar – MEMRI continues to follow Qatar's support of terrorist and Islamist elements across the Muslim world, from the Taliban in Afghanistan to elements in Libya, Sudan, Somalia, and Gaza, and its purchase of international institutions such as UN bodies to facilitate its worldwide pro-Islamist indoctrination efforts.

White Supremacist Online Incitement Project – Examining this incitement, hatred, and extremism on social media, and how it intersects with similar jihadi content on the same platforms. On July 15, MEMRI presented its research findings at a summit convened by the U.S. attorney-general, with the participation of the Education and Treasury Department secretaries and the director of the FBI.

Reform Project – Seeking out and amplifying the voices of Arab and Muslim figures and intellectuals who preach tolerance and coexistence, promote civil, human, and women's rights, and speak out against and counter hatred, anti-Semitism, and jihad.

The MEMRI Jihad and Terrorism Threat Monitor (JTTM) Project – Monitoring, tracking, and researching organizations and groups such as ISIS – now possibly resurgent – and Al-Qaeda, and their offshoots and sympathizers across the globe. In the past two years, MEMRI has provided U.S. and Western authorities with massive amounts of information on jihadis, including potential lone-wolf attackers – leading, in many cases, to arrests and prosecutions.

The MEMRI Cyber and Jihad Lab (CJL) – This project monitors jihadi and other hacktivist groups and activity emanating from the Middle East, Iran, and South Asia – including conducting cutting-edge research on jihadis' use of cryptocurrency. Following its publication of its new report on terrorist usage of cryptocurrencies, MEMRI received and complied with numerous government requests for briefings on the subject.
