On March 17, 2016, an Iranian Facebook page devoted to news from the Syrian and Iraqi battlefronts reported that Iranian Majlis member and cleric Ali Mohammad Bozorgvari is fighting in the ranks of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) in Syria and posted photos of him alongside IRGC officers and soldiers.
The report stated: "The photos were taken on March 11 on the Damascus-Aleppo road. Others were taken March 12 near the village of Sahan west of Hama. This area is held not by ISIS but by armed Syrian rebels. The group photo [below] shows [Bozorgvari with] Iranian General Shahabi-far [second row, third from the left], the former IRGC commander in the Kohkilouyeh district, who has many photos with Qods Force commander Qassem Soleimani in Iraq."
