Following is a transcription of excerpts from a statement by Maulvi Faqir Mohammad, the deputy emir of Tahreek-e-Taliban Pakistan [TTP], which aired on the Al-Jazeera network :

Reporter: "It was just a few weeks ago that Faqir Mohammad reportedly said the Taliban was in peace talks with Pakistan's government. But another senior Taliban leader almost immediately contradicted his statement, saying that wasn't the case at all. The disagreement seems to confirm what the Pakistani military has been saying - that the Pakistani Taliban has splintered and no longer has a unified chain of command." ...
