General Hyten, the Vice Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, recently revealed that the U.S. forces "failed miserably" in simulated wargames over Taiwan against "Red Team" aggression. The prominent Chinese propaganda publisher Global Times took advantage of this news report, and warned repeatedly that "Taiwan independence" means war, and the DPP (Democratic Progressive Party) authorities in Taiwan should not rely on the U.S. to mount any "separatist attempt" to "resist reunification" with the mainland China. In this video posted on Haokan Video on July 29, 2021, Global Times also demanded that the U.S. stop "any form of military contact with Taiwan."

Global Times Journalist: "According to a Taiwanese media report, the Vice Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Hyten, said they would change the principles that have guided the U.S. military for decades after a disastrous defeat in a series of scenarios that simulated war for Taiwan. The report quoted the news stories on the 27th from the American publication Defense One and 'The Drive' website as saying that, on Monday, General Hyten made these remarks at a ceremony to officially launch the Emerging Technologies Institute by The National Defense Industrial Association:

"He said the 'Red Team' was way ahead of them and knew exactly what they were going to do before they took any action. The Pentagon would not provide the name of the wargame, which took place last October, because it was classified. However, one Defense Department official said that one of the scenarios involved 'going to war for Taiwan,' and a key lesson learned by the U.S. side was that amassing warships, aircrafts and other military forces in one place would make them very vulnerable to attack, and more importantly, once the war started, the 'blue team' representing the U.S. military lost network access almost immediately.
"Taiwan's Future Lies In National Reunification... Any Separatist Attempt Of 'Relying On The U.S. For Independence' Is Doomed To Failure"
"The Chinese Defense Ministry spokesman Ren Guogiang made it clear recently that Taiwan is an inalienable part of China, and that the Taiwan issue is purely an internal matter of China. China firmly opposes any form of official contact and military ties between the U.S. and Taiwan, resolutely opposes the U.S. side 'using the Taiwan issue to control China,' firmly opposes the Taiwan side 'using the U.S. to puff itself up' to 'resist unification by force.'
"The complete reunification of China is a historical necessity, the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation is the trend of our times, peace and stability on both sides of the Taiwan Strait is the aspiration of the people, and 'Taiwan independence' is a dead-end path that means war. The U.S. should fully realize that no force can stop China's development and growth. The U.S. should abide by the One-China principle and the provisions of the Three China-U.S. Joint Communiqués and stop any form of military contact with Taiwan.
"The Democratic Progressive Party [DPP] authorities must be soberly aware that Taiwan's future lies in national reunification and the well-being of Taiwan compatriots depends on national rejuvenation. Any separatist attempt of 'relying on the U.S. for independence' is doomed to failure."
