China | Special Dispatch No. 9579

An article published August 21, 2021 by the Chinese Communist Party's People's Daily media outlet, titled "Everyone Can Feel That A Profound Change Is Underway!" stressed that China is undergoing profound socio-economic transformations. It underlined China's need 'to clean' all forms of "cultural chaos" and build a "healthy" and "virile" culture.

The article concluded: "Every one of us can sense and feel that a profound social transformation is underway and it is not just limited to the realms of capital and entertainment. It needs not only to destroy all obstacles, but also to tackle issues from their roots by tearing down what is already rotten and by scraping the poison from the bones. We must clean the house and clear the air to make our society healthier and to make all people of our society happy in body and mind."

'A Return To The Revolutionary Spirit'

"...[Considering] the central government's rectification of economic order and anti-monopoly measures, the 18.2 billion yuan fine levied on Alibaba and the investigation of Didi Global,[2] the grand commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese Communist Party, the proposed path to common prosperity and the recent series of actions of crackdown to clean up the mess in the entertainment industry, all these events tell us that China is undergoing critical changes and that a profound transformation is going through the economic field, the financial field, the cultural field and the political field. Or it can be said to be a profound revolution. It marks a return from capitalist cliques to the people's camp, a transformation from capital-focused center to the people-focused center.

"It is, therefore, a political transformation and people once again become the engine of this transformation. All those who attempt to obstruct this people-centered transformation will be abandoned. This profound transformation is also a return to the original aspirations and pledge of the Chinese Communist Party, a return to the people-focused approach and a return to the essence of socialism.

"This transformation will wash away all the dust and capital markets will no longer be the paradise for the capitalists getting rich overnight. The cultural markets will no longer be a heaven for sissy-boy stars and the news and public opinion will no longer be a front of worshipping western culture. A return to the revolutionary spirit, a return to heroism and a return to courage and righteousness are badly desired.

"We need to clean all forms of cultural chaos and build a vibrant, healthy, virile, valiant and people-oriented culture. We need to fight the chaos of the manipulation of capital markets by big capital, platform-based monopolies and bad money driving out the good, ensuring the flow of capital to real business entities, high-tech companies and manufacturers.

"The ongoing restructuring of private tutoring and education organizations and high property value associated with school districts will clean up the chaos in the educational system and bring about a true return to accessibility and fairness, giving ordinary people opportunities and room for upward mobility."

'The U.S. Is Waging A Biological War, Cyber-War, Space War And Public Opinion War Against China'

"In the future, the high housing prices and exorbitant medical expenses must be brought under control. The Three Great Mountains of education, medical care and housing must be completely leveled. Although we are not trying to kill the rich to aid the poor, we need to practically solve the problem of a widening income gap that allows the rich getting richer while the poor getting poorer. Common prosperity means allowing ordinary workers to be able to enjoy a larger share of the social redistribution of wealth.

"This transformation will bring a series of new phenomena to our society. The current efforts to crack down on the entertainment circle, literature and art circle, film and television circle are far from strong enough. We must utilize all the means at our disposal to strike down various forms of celebrity worship and fan culture, stamp out the sissy-boy (effeminate men) and pretty-boy (small fresh meat) tendencies in our national character. We must ensure that our entertainment, literature and art, film and television spheres are truly upright and upstanding. Those working in literature and arts, film and television need to go down to the grassroots, allowing ordinary workers and regular citizens to become the protagonists playing the leading roles in our literature and arts.

"China is facing an increasingly severe and complex international landscape while the United States menaces China with worsening military threats, economic and technological decoupling, attacks on our financial system and political and diplomatic isolation. The U.S. is waging a biological war, cyber-war, space war and public opinion war against China and is ramping up efforts to foment a Color Revolution by mobilizing a Fifth Column inside China.

"If at this juncture, we still rely on the magnates of capitalism as the main force to combat imperialism and hegemony, if we continue to cater to the American tactics of 'titty-tainment' and if we allow this generation of young people to lose their toughness and masculinity, then we do not need an enemy to attack us before we bring destruction upon ourselves, much like the Soviet Union back in the day when it allowed the nation to disintegrate, its wealth to be looted and its people to sink into calamity. The profound transformation now underway in China is a direct response to an increasingly severe and complex international situation and a direct response to the savage and violent attacks that the U.S. has already launched against China.

"Every one of us can sense and feel that a profound social transformation is underway and it is not just limited to the realms of capital and entertainment. It needs not only to destroy all obstacles, but also to tackle issues from their roots by tearing down what is already rotten and by scraping the poison from the bones. We must clean the house and clear the air to make our society healthier and to make all people of our society happy in body and mind."
