On November 7, 2024, MEMRI published the Balochistan Liberation Charter promoted by the Free Balochistan Movement, headed by Hyrbyair Marri, one of the most popular leaders among Baloch people.[1]
Hyrbyair Marri supports the independence of Balochistan from Iran and Pakistan. He promotes a free and democratic Balochistan, in which men and women will be treated equally and will be entitled to all rights, protections, and freedoms in all spheres of society.
He has repeatedly stated that both Pakistan and Iran are pursuing a slow-motion genocide against the Baloch people. "Linguistic, cultural, and ethnic genocide is going on in Iran and Pakistan, by Persians and Muslim Punjabis against other nations there, and against the people of occupied Balochistan," Marri stated.
The document relates to Balochistan's independence and the restoration of a democratic political system on the principle of one person one vote after independence and is open to the introduction of more amendments and further improvement.
Iran's regime can be toppled, but this can only be done with the help of ethnic groups. In order to stop the repression in the country and bring about stability in the region, the people of Balochistan are demanding not just regime change but independence. The solution to Balochistan's problems is to break the chains of slavery, a goal for which the Baloch people have made enormous sacrifices over the decades. This position is shared by the people of Kurdistan and Ahwaz as well. Therefore, it is the non-Persian ethnic groups in Iran that are most committed to an uprising against the Islamic Republic, as they have been suffering the harshest consequences of the regime's crackdowns.
Recently, the Balochistan Liberation Charter gained momentum in the media outlets of the subcontinent. Below is an overview of the Charter republished in English and Hindi:
