Anti-Liberalism Russian Philosopher Dugin: 'We Are On The Brink Of A Third World War;' 'The Likelihood Of A Nuclear Armageddon Is Growing Day By Day'

On September 15, 2022, after a period of silence following the killing of his daughter Daria "Platonova" Dugina, who died in a car bombing in August, Russian Philosopher Aleksander Dugin published an analysis on the Ukrainian crisis.

Dugin's analysis was prompted by the Ukrainian army's success in Kharkiv that – according to the philosopher – obliges Russia to review its military and political strategy. According to Dugin, a "point of no return" has been reached as "we are" on the "brink of a Third World War."

Dugin explains that the West is "obsessively" pushing Russia toward this war scenario. "It is quite obvious that the West will not even be satisfied with our complete withdrawal from the former Ukraine's territory... They will finish us off on our soil," Dugin writes. He then added: "Back in 1991, the West was satisfied with the collapse of the USSR and our ideological surrender, primarily by accepting Western liberal ideology, political system and economy under Western mentors. Today, the West's red line is the existence of sovereign Russia itself, even within the borders of the Russian Federation... The enemy will only accept our total surrender, enslavement, dismemberment and occupation."

Hence, the Special Military Operation (SVO) has inevitably turned into "a full-fledged war" with the West. According to Dugin, whether this war will come to the use of nuclear arms is "an open question." "But the likelihood of a nuclear Armageddon is growing day by day," the Russian philosopher stresses.

Dugin suggests four main points for Russia to come out victorious in a war against the West:

1.Russian should declare its own ideology, which would consist of a rejection of "globalism" and "totalitarian liberalism." "The values espoused by the globalist West: LGBT, legalization of perversion, drugs, experiments to fuse human body and machine, total intermixing through uncontrolled migration, etc. are inextricably connected to its political and military hegemony and unipolar system," he wrote, adding that, without an ideology of its own that clearly defines who is a friend and who is a foe, Russia risks to end up defeated.

2. Military mobilization is inescapable, Dugin says, explaining that Russia should form a "Volunteer Movement." Dugin considers that a bet should be placed on veterans. Furthermore, Russia should also form an "anti-Nazi anti-globalization international brigades" of people coming from abroad. According to Dugin, mobilization also implies that the mass media should become "patriotic wartime mobilization tools."

3.The mobilization should also involve the economy. "War with the West makes it senseless to continue playing economic games according to Western rules. A wartime economy can only be sovereign," Dugin stresses. According to him, Russians also should be ready to give up comfort. "Only nations prepared for privation are capable of winning real full-fledged wars," he states.

4. Russia should "mobilize" its own allies that "reject the unipolar liberal Western order," and support multipolarity. However, to mobilize them, "ideology is required." "We have to convince our allies that we have decided to break irrevocably with globalism and Western hegemony and that we are ready to go to the limit in erecting a multipolar world," Dugin states.

In conclusion, Dugin states that the focal point of the global confrontation is the spiritual/religious aspect: "Russia finds itself in a state of war with an atheistic and anti-religious civilization, which subverts the very foundations of spiritual and moral values, i.e., God, the Church, the family, gender, man... The modern West has abolished all this, replacing it with virtual reality, ultimate individualism, the destruction of gender, universal surveillance, a totalitarian 'cancel culture,' a post-truth society." According to Dugin, Russia's role is "to unite believers of different faiths" in this "decisive battle." "It does not pay to wait until the global enemy destroys your home, kills your husband, son or daughter... At some point it will be too late. God forbid, we should live to see such a moment," he opines.

Hence, according to Dugin, if the West wants to launch "a war of annihilation" against Russia, then Russia must bring together all the means of its "deepest national potential" to repel this attack, such as "thought, military power, economy, culture, art, [and the] internal mobilization of all state institutions and each of us."

Following is Dugin's analysis. All emphasis was in the original:[1]

"We Have Reached The Point Of No Return"

"Over the last few days significant shifts have occurred in the balance of power in Ukraine. This situation needs to be grasped in full measure.

"Kyiv's counterattacks proved largely unsuccessful in Kherson, but, alas, were successful in Kharkiv direction. It was precisely the situation in Kharkiv Oblast and the forced retreat of the allied forces that became the watershed moment. Putting aside the psychological effects and the natural experiences of patriots, it should be recorded that in this entire story of the Special Military Operation [SVO] we have reached the point of no return.

"Everyone now recommends extraordinary measures to turn the situation around, and some of these proposals are rather rational. We do not claim to be original in any way, but merely try to summarize the most fundamental points and recommendations and place them in the global geopolitical context."

"Russia Is At War With The Collective West"

"We are on the brink of a Third World War, to which the West is obsessively pushing us towards. This is no longer a fear, or an expectation, it is a fact. Russia is at war with the collective West, with NATO member-states and their allies (although not in war with all of them at once, as Turkey and Greece have their own stance, and a number of European countries, above all but not exclusively, France and Italy, do not want to actively participate in hostilities with Russia). Nevertheless, the threat of a third world war is getting closer.

"Whether it will come to the use of nuclear arms is an open question. But the likelihood of a nuclear Armageddon is growing day by day. It is quite obvious that the West will not even be satisfied with our complete withdrawal from the former Ukraine's territory, (many American military leaders as former US commander in Europe Ben Hodges has declared that openly). They will finish us off on our soil, insisting on 'unconditional surrender' (Jens Stoltenberg), 'de-imperialization' (Ben Hodges), dismemberment of Russia.

"Back in 1991, the West was satisfied with the collapse of the USSR and our ideological surrender, primarily by accepting Western liberal ideology, political system and economy under Western mentors. Today, the West's red line is the existence of sovereign Russia itself, even within the borders of the Russian Federation.

"The ZSU counter-attack in Kharkiv is a direct attack by the West on Russia. Everyone knows that this offensive was organized, prepared and outfitted by the US and NATO military command, and took place under their direct supervision. I am not talking only about the use of NATO-made military equipment, but also about the direct involvement of Western aerospace intelligence, mercenaries and instructors. In the Western perception, this is the beginning of 'our demise.' Once we have showed slack in the defense of the territories under our control in Kharkiv Oblast, then they conquer us still further. This was not a small success of Kyiv's counter-offensive, it is the first tangible success of the Drang nach Osten [a 19th-century phrase coined by German nationalists conveying their aspiration to colonize the Slavic lands in the east] by NATO forces.

"Naturally, we can try to write this off to temporary 'technical difficulties' and defer a substantive analysis of the situation for later. However, this will only postpone the realization of the fait accompli, and will, therefore, only debilitate and demoralize us.

"It is therefore worth admitting cool headedly: The West has declared war on us and is already waging it. We did not choose this war; we did not want it. In 1941 we also did not want war with Nazi Germany and refused to believe in it until the very last. But in the today's situation, when it is waged against us de facto, this does not matter. All that matters now is, to win it by defending Russia's right to be."

"[The SVO] Gradually Turned Into A Full-Fledged War With The West"

"The SVO as a limited operation to liberate Donbass and a number of lands in Novorossiya is over. It has gradually turned into a full-fledged war with the West, where, actually, that same terrorist Nazi Kyiv regime, plays only an instrumental role. The attempt to besiege the latter and liberate a number of Ukrainian Nazi-controlled territories in Novorossiya, while keeping the existing global geopolitical balance of power intact, has failed as a technical operation. Thus, to further pretend that we are simply continuing the SVO (somewhere on the periphery of the public eye) is simply absurd.

"Despite our will, we are now at war, and this affects every Russian citizen: every one of us is at the crosshairs of adversaries, of terrorists, snipers, the DRGs [sabotage-reconnaissance group].

"However, the situation is such that we cannot, despite our desire, to bring things back to the starting conditions, i.e., before February 24, 2022. What has happened is irreversible, and we should not even fear any concessions or compromises on our part. The enemy will only accept our total surrender, enslavement, dismemberment and occupation. So we simply have no choice.

"The end of SVO means the need for a profound transformation of the entire political and social system of modern Russia; the country's conversion to a war footing in politics, economics, culture and the information sphere. The SVO may have been an important, but not the only, narrative of Russian social life. The war with the West subjugates everything."

"Russia Finds Itself In A State Of Ideological Warfare"

"Russia finds itself in a state of ideological warfare. The values espoused by the globalist West: LGBT, legalization of perversion, drugs, experiments to fuse human body and machine, total intermixing through uncontrolled migration, etc. are inextricably connected to its political and military hegemony and unipolar system. Western liberalism and the global political and military and economic domination of the US and NATO are one and the same. It is absurd to fight the West and adopt (even partially) its values, in whose name, it wages a war against us, a war of extermination.

"Our own full-fledged ideology would not simply be 'of utility' to us today. If it will not exist, we will lose. The West will continue to attack us from outside of our borders, by the hands of armed and highly trained Ukrainian Nazis, and from within, by the hands of the fifth (still liberal) column, skillfully degrading the mind and corrupting the soul of the younger generation. Without an ideology of our own that clearly defines who is s friend and who is a foe, we would be left almost powerless in such a situation.

"The ideology should be declared in broad terms immediately, and it should essentially consist of a total and outright rejection of Western ideology, of globalism and totalitarian liberalism, along with all its instrumental sub-species, including neo-Nazism, racism and extremism."

"Mobilization Is Inescapable"

"Mobilization is inescapable. War affects each and everyone. But mobilization does not mean forcibly sending conscripts to the front. This can actually be avoided, for example, by forming a full-fledged Volunteer Movement (with the corresponding benefits and state support).

"A bet should be placed on veterans, on special support for the Novorossiya fighters. Russia has few, but there are supporters abroad too. We should not be shy about forming anti-Nazi anti-globalization international brigades of honest people from East and West.

"But most importantly, the Russians should not be underestimated. We are a hero nation. We have defeated a terrible enemy more than once or twice in our glorious history, alas at a great cost. We will be victorious this time as well, provided the war against the West will become a people's war on this occasion too. We are precisely [good at] winning the people's wars, wars in which the giant nation awakens to fight.

"Mobilization implies a complete change in information policy. Peacetime norms (which are, essentially, blind copying of Western entertainment programs and strategies that only corrupt society) must be abolished. Television and the media in general should become patriotic wartime mobilization tools. All concerts to the front, with life in the rear also considered the front. It is already starting little by little, but so far it affects only a miniscule part of the channels. But [this policy] should be everywhere.

"Culture, information, education, enlightenment, politics, the social sphere, every sphere must work unanimously for the war, i.e., for victory."

"A Mobilization Economy"

"Any sovereign state can issue as much national currency as it needs, provided it is truly sovereign. War with the West makes it senseless to continue playing economic games according to Western rules. A wartime economy can only be sovereign. As many resources as needed should be expended on Victory [caps, original].

"One should only keep track that the emission to be concentrated on a special contour intended for strategic purposes. Corruption in such circumstances should be equated with war crimes.

"War and comfort are incompatible. Comfort as a goal, as a reference point in life, must be abandoned. Only nations prepared for privation are capable of winning real full-fledged wars. In such situations there a new galaxy of economists appears, whose aim is to save the state. This is above all. [Economic] dogmas, schools, methods and approaches are secondary.

"One could dub it a mobilization economy, or simply a war economy."

"Allies Play An important Role... Those Countries That Reject The Unipolar Liberal Western Order"

"In any war, allies play an important role. Russia does not have that many today, but they exist. First of all, we are talking about those countries that reject the unipolar liberal Western order. I am talking about such supporters of multipolarity, such as China, Iran, North Korea, Serbia, Syria, the CAR, Mali, but also, to a certain extent, India, Turkey, a number of Islamic, African and Latin American countries (above all Cuba, Nicaragua, and Venezuela).

"In dealing with them, all available resources should be mobilized, [I am talking] not only of professional diplomacy but also of people's diplomacy. Again, ideology is required. We have to convince our allies that we have decided to break irrevocably with globalism and Western hegemony and that we are ready to go to the limit in erecting a multipolar world. We must be consistent and resolute in this regard. The time of half-tones and compromises is over. The war of the West against Russia is separating humanity on different sides of the [ideological] barricade."

"The Spiritual Factor"

"The focal point of the global confrontation that has begun is the spiritual, religious aspect. Russia finds itself in a state of war with an atheistic and anti-religious civilization, which subverts the very foundations of spiritual and moral values, i.e., God, the Church, the family, gender, man.

"Despite all the differences between Orthodoxy, traditional Islam, Judaism, Hinduism or Buddhism, all religions and the cultures built on them recognize the divine truth, man's lofty spiritual and moral dignity, revere traditions and institutions: the state, the family, the community. The modern West has abolished all this, replacing it with virtual reality, ultimate individualism, the destruction of gender, universal surveillance, a totalitarian 'cancel culture,' a post-truth society.

"Open Satanism and outright racism are flourishing in Ukraine, and the West only supports this. We are dealing with what the Orthodox elders call the 'civilization of the Antichrist.' Thus, Russia's role is to unite believers of different faiths in this decisive battle.

"It does not pay to wait until the global enemy destroys your home, kills your husband, son or daughter... At some point it will be too late. God forbid, we should live to see such a moment.

"The enemy offensive in Kharkiv Oblast is just that, the very same beginning of a full-fledged war of the West against us.

"The West is demonstrating its intention to launch a war of annihilation against us, i.e. a third world war. We must bring together all of our deepest national potential to repel this attack via all means: thought, military power, economy, culture, art, [and the] internal mobilization of all state institutions and each of us."
