Al-Qaeda Leader Ayman Al-Zawahiri Expresses Support For Syrian Revolution In New Video

On July 27, 2011, Al-Sahab media company published a seven-minute video by new Al-Qaeda leader Ayman Al-Zawahiri; in it, Al-Zawahiri addressed the Syrians' current fight against the regime of President Bashar Al-Assad. Al-Zawahiri saluted the Syrian rebels, repeatedly referring to them as mujahideen, and calling them an example for the rest of the Muslim Ummah for their perseverance in fighting their tyrannical regime and for their sacrifice. He urged the rebels to maintain their fight and stand fast against Assad, whom he referred to as a leader of a criminal gang and of the traitors, and said that he had relinquished the Golan Heights and aided the U.S. in its fight against Islam. Following are excerpts from a video-clip featuring Al-Qaeda Leader Ayman Al-Zawahiri, posted on the Internet on July 27, 2011. Ayman Al-Zawahiri: "Say [to Bashar Al-Assad]: You are the leader of a gang of criminals, the descendant of traitors, the head corrupter, the top executioner, America's partner in the war against Islam under the guise of terrorism, and the defender of the borders of Israel." ...
