On May 6, 2011, Al-Qaeda general command published an official statement on jihadi forums confirming the death of Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden.
The statement called the day of bin Laden's death "an historic day in the days of the great Muslim Ummah," and went on to describe bin Laden's relentless work in confronting his enemies and in spreading the spirit of jihad and perseverance among the rest of the Ummah.
