Pakistani Columnist Hassan Niazi On The U.S.-Taliban Deal: 'The Agreement Is Clear That The U.S. Will Leave, Even If Afghanistan Burns'

March 12, 2020
Special Dispatch No. 8630
On February 29, 2020, the United States and the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (the Afghan Taliban organization) signed a deal, according to which the U.S. and other foreign nations will start withdrawing their troops from Afghanistan, while the Taliban will begin talks with Afghan stakeholders for the formation of an inclusive government. At a ceremony in Doha, Qatar, the agreement was signed by the U.S. special envoy Zalmay Khalilzad and Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, the Taliban's deputy emir and chief of its Political Office in Doha. Throughout the talks with the U.S., the Taliban refused to involve the elected Afghan government in the negotiations. The agreement is now being criticized for its numerous failings, including the absence of any requirement for a ceasefire between the Taliban and Afghan security forces. Especially, the provision for releasing 5,000 Taliban prisoners by March 10, 2020, a deadline that has already elapsed, has attracted criticism. U.S. envoy Zalmay Khalilzad and Taliban deputy emir Mullah Baradar signed the pact In a recent article, Pakistani columnist Hassan Niazi warned that the so-called peace deal means no peace for Afghanistan. Following are excerpts from Niazi's article: "Much Like Nixon's Agreement With North Vietnam In 1973, This 'Peace Deal' Appears More In The Vein Of Saving Face By An Embarrassed And Frustrated Superpower" "Even before the ink was dry on an agreement between the United States and the Taliban it was impossible not to draw comparisons with the war in Vietnam. Much like Nixon's agreement with North Vietnam in 1973, this 'peace deal' appears more in the vein of saving face by an embarrassed and frustrated superpower. "The biggest flaw of the 1973 agreement was the absence of the South Vietnamese from the table. This failure to build consensus between the two local sides led to the South Vietnamese government being overrun two years later by the North with the Americans being reduced to passive bystanders. "But rather than learning from the past, it appears the Trump administration is doomed to repeat it. The agreement with the Taliban, and its preceding negotiations, excluded the Afghan government, which signed a separate agreement with the U.S. So, this so-called 'peace' is a peace between the Americans and the Taliban, it does not spell peace for Afghanistan. "According to the terms of the agreement, the U.S. will gradually withdraw its 12,000 troops from Afghanistan. In exchange, the Taliban will agree to not give sanctuary to terrorist groups, like Al-Qaeda, which could launch attacks against the U.S. The withdrawal of troops will take place over a period of 14 months. Within that timeframe, it is hoped, that the Taliban and the Afghan government will work out how to live together. "All nice and rosy in theory."

Syrian Journalist: Education Agreement With Syria Will Allow Iran To Control Syrians’ Minds

March 12, 2020
Syria | Special Dispatch No. 8629
On January 23, 2020, Syria and Iran signed a memorandum of understandings in the sphere of education which includes, inter alia, an Iranian pledge to renovate 250 schools in Syria, assist in the training of educational staff, assess Syrian curricula and support vocational training in the country.[1] Following the signing of the MoU, Syrian journalist 'Abd Al-Razzaq Diab warned, in an article on an opposition website, that it would enable the Iranians to inject their “sectarian drugs” into the minds the Syrians, as well as the Iranian philosophy, which champions "killing, death and weapons." He said that Syrians should not be surprised if courses in mechanics and electricity are replaced with courses on making explosives, and if women’s weaving and embroidery classes are replaced with classes on making explosive vests. It should be mentioned that, throughout the Syria war, oppositionists have been warning about the spread of the Shi'a and of Iranian ideology in the country.[2]     ‘Abd Al-Razzak Diab (Source: Horrya.net, March 29, 2017) The following are translated excerpts from Diab's article: [3] "The Education Ministry of the [Syrian] regime's government signed a memorandum of understanding a few days ago with its Iranian counterpart, which authorizes the latter to supervise the overhaul of [Syria’s] school curricula, to print [Syrian textbooks] in Iran, and to renovate 250 schools, [and includes] additional aspects involving Iranian participation in [teacher] training and instruction, in [administering] and marking exams, and in supporting vocational education. "This means that the [Syrian] regime is handing over to the Iranians not only the keys to the Syrian economy, but also the keys to the Syrian minds, so they can damage them, inject them with their ludicrous sectarian drugs and create new generations that believe in the Rule of the [Shi'ite] Jurisprudent and in [Iran's] Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corp which champions resistance and loyalty to the Holy Islamic Republic [of Iran]. "Under Iranian patronage our children will learn how to chant 'Death to America and to Israel,' and to attend Husseiniyyas [Shi'ite religious centers] to weep over those abandoned and killed in the Battle of Karbala.[4] They will plan revenge against the descendants of the criminals who carried the head of Hussein [ibn 'Ali] to Yazid ibn Muawiyah,[5] and each morning they will sing the eternal Khomeinist anthem of the [Iranian] Revolution, instead of the [Syrian] national anthem… "What does the Iranian Ministry of Education have to offer the Syrians, as the product of a regime that doesn't believe in the role of art, music, cinema and theater and not even in the right of a woman to attend a football game or to choose her clothes or their style? It is a regime that only declares [its commitment to] the industry of militias bearing the names of the oppressed and the downtrodden and of the flagbearers of revenge and killing. "Other details of the MoU [signed by Syria and Iran] relate to Iran's involvement in vocational education, so it is quite possible that we will soon see training courses in manufacturing bombs and explosives instead of in mechanics and electricity, and [courses in] making explosive vests instead of weaving and embroidery classes for girls and women… And Shi’zation will become part of the curriculum, enshrined in formal contracts, with [the Syrians receiving] nothing in return. "[True,] the French [also] occupied Syria, but they outlined the future organizational blueprint for Damascus, built progressive schools, and established the modern Syrian state. The national leaders and intellectuals of that time learned from them the experience of government and parliament, and [the French] also contributed to the establishment of the Syrian banks and their administration. My intent here is not to honor colonialism, as some people prefer to understand it, but rather to compare between colonialism with a cultural and humanistic heritage and an occupier that possesses nothing but a philosophy of killing, death, and weapons. "The tyrannical rulers have brought [us] not only the occupiers, but also [the occupiers'] ways of thinking and methods of operation, so that the disaster will be complete and impossible to overcome… Now that the resources of the country – phosphates, natural gas, and military bases – have been delivered [to the occupiers], they are manufacturing people to defend this thievery using the power of thought, and a new generation is being produced that will see the occupiers as partners…"     [1] Al-Watan (Syria), January 23, 2020. The Russian People Are Unworthy Of, Or Currently Incapable Of, Anything Better Than Putin As President For Life

March 12, 2020
Russia | Special Dispatch No. 8628
State Duma deputies unanimously approved amendments to the constitution (Source: Yuga..ru) The guessing game is over. Ever since Vladimir Putin was reelected in 2018 to his final constitutionally allotted six year term of office, speculation abounded on how Putin would circumvent presidential term limits. Would Russia and Belarus merge allowing Putin to serve as president of the new political entity? Perhaps Putin would siphon off presidential powers to another institution – the prime minister or the security council – allowing Putin to move to a new power base while bequeathing a hollowed-out presidency to his successor? In the end the solution was simplicity itself: the Russian legislature unanimously accepted an amendment resetting the number of Vladimir Putin's terms in office to zero allowing him theoretically to continue as Russia's president until 2036. Despite Putin's in your face solution to the constitutional dilemma, the reaction aside from a handful of picket sign holders ranged from resignation to relief. Below are two representative articles that explain the absence of mass protest. The first[1] is by Vladislav Inozemtsev, the director of the Moscow-based Center for Research on Post-Industrial Societies, and the chair at the Department of World Economy, at  Moscow State University. The second is by Kommersant columnist Dmitry Drize.[2]  Putin, writes Inozemtsev, correctly perceives that  people who do not want to be free and respected are unworthy of freedom and respect." Whereas, Drize understands the reassurance that Putin's continued reign provides at a time of multiple crises, but if things are ever to change it is necessary to take advantage of these years to raise popular self-awareness and end the situation that everything is decided by the officials. Below are the articles by Inozemtsev and Drize Inozemtsev: Putin Is Worthy Of Praise For Dispensing With Sham Democracy Vladislav Inozemtsev (Source: Kp.ru) "As probably my friends and subscribers managed to notice over a number of years, I rarely praise Vladimir Putin. However, today is a very special case. All over the tape are reproaches directed at the president for not even troubling himself with some sort of serious and complex legitimation of his life-long rule, [but instead] simply wiping out [his] presidential terms and wheeling out the promise of indexing pensions and stories about school lunches as decent payment. "I disagree. In this case, the president is absolutely correct in his choice of tactics. Before whom should he perform "[stylistic Louis XII] Marlezon ballets”? Before a population, which has already chosen him four times, despite the fact that it was impossible to overlook whom you are dealing with? Before the opposition, which is so principled that in order to at least make one of its leaders respected by all the others, he had to be demonstratively killed five years ago?[3] Before the West, that is pensively reflecting on whether Russia really does not have "historical rights" to Ukraine and Belarus?" Gorbachev Believed In The Russian People And He Is Reviled "The president is right: people who do not want to be free and respected are unworthy of freedom and respect, and complicated schemes involving elections that they have been allowed to play at since 1996 will be no more. In Russia there has already been one person who believed otherwise - Mikhail Sergeyevich Gorbachev. He believed in the Soviet people, considering him more worthy than it was in fact. Five years of his reign were followed by thirty years of hatred and vilification. "Putin was able to learn a lesson from this - and therefore he will not leave the Kremlin alive (I remind you that his predecessors in this, Stalin, Brezhnev, who else are there, today are called by Russians the greatest people in the country's history, so why not leave the same memory about yourself). "Putin knows how to learn, but the majority of Russians do not. That is why events are moving  the way they are. "I would also say that Vladimir Vladimirovich treats his "specially gifted" subjects with understanding - four times he invited them to speak out on whether they support him or not. You can argue about the merits of [A Just Russia leader Sergey] Mironov, [Former Yabloko leader Grigory] Yavlinsky or [Party of Changes leader Ksenia] Sobchak - but you could vote for them. Not in single units, but in millions. Alas. "Dear Russians: they asked you, you answered. What is the current noise about?  Pipe down and enjoy the approaching happiness. "Putin is smart! I hope that by 2036 he will be able to convince the population that democracy is better than dictatorship. They should learn faster but most likely it will not work..." Drize: As The Country Was Wracked By Multiple Crises It Was Necessary To Remove Uncertainty Dmitry Drize (Source: Kommersant.ru) "It is good that clarity has arrived – this unfortunately, is perhaps the only thing that can be said in this case. Everything else is emotions. Perhaps this was the calculation - to starve a public, worn down by uncertainty. And here is the upshot. "Whatever the case may be, the grand theater called 'transit of power' is over. "At least I want to hope so. The oil wars, the fight against world terrorism, the coronavirus onslaught, multiplied by the collapse of the ruble and oil, plus additional political uncertainty or, worse, the political crisis, is too much for one country. "Therefore, in such a situation, it was decided to stop the guessing game, to freeze the ballyhooed transit for four years. In the coordinate system where we exist, the decision made was correct. It should suit both supporters and opponents of the incumbent president. On the one hand, he can again run for office in 2024, but, on the other, he can also refuse. Some will say: no, it won’t work, how many times, enough. And others: no, it will last forever - until 2036. A few more generations will grow, but all with the same leader of the nation. Well, good – stability is preserved. Both those and others are invited to wait and hope that their scenario [pans out]." Lame Ducks Can Govern In The US But Not In Russia "At the same time, we are still promised a change of power, even if not now, maybe after 30-50 years. Although another will say: not everyone will be able to live in this wonderful time. There is a popular political consultancy explanation why Vladimir Putin cannot leave - the so-called inter-elite balance would be destroyed. We need the institution of an arbiter so that different parts of the [power] vertical do not eat each other. Amongst the common people, this is called the 'conflict of the towers'" That aside, the 'lame duck' is not our concept, they have it in America, and even earlier, they ruled without restriction. Incidentally, there is a certain element of humiliation in this: they [the Americans] appear to have developed, but we, it turns out, have not yet grown up. However, our presidents cannot be on their way out. Otherwise, as Vladimir Putin himself said, the officials "will become a pain" - quit working. The elites will be dismayed and, apart from their survival under the new conditions, they will not be able to think about anything. "What then is the problem? It lies with the voter. He is seemingly alien to this celebration of life. They have thought up everything for him, and now they propose accept it or not. Apparently, up there they are sure that the electorate will not let them down. That is, the word "no" is not provided. The main person in Russia is an official, when it should be the other way around. But if people do not suggest anything, then what does this mean? It means, everything suits him. Receive, sign - here you have a transit and [presidential] terms reset to zero. Comrades, it is necessary to participate more actively in public life, within the framework of the law, of course. The growth of the populace's self-awareness is the main national project. Let a leader come forth, who will support it. This is beneficial for the country, right? That would be the great reformation."   [1] Echo.msk.ru, March 10, 2020. [2] Kommersant.ru, March 11, 2020. [3] Inozemtev is referring to Boris Nemtsov, who was assassinated on February 27, 2015.

MI-Based Imam Mustapha Elturk, Who Endorsed Bernie Sanders: Islam Is Far Superior to Man-Made Systems of Government; I Immigrated to U.S. Because Here, People Can Freely Spread Islamic Ideology

#7871 | 04:49
Source: The Internet - "Hafiz Khan on YouTube"

Michigan-based Islamic scholar Imam Ameer Mustapha Elturk, who immigrated to the United States from Lebanon in 1976 during the Lebanese civil war, said in a lecture that was uploaded to YouTube on October 12, 2019 that Allah revealed Islam to the Prophet Muhammad so that it could be made to prevail over all man-made non-Islamic systems of law and government, including liberal democracy, Communism, socialism, and the laws of "We, the People" that are currently in countries such as the United States. He said that Muslims must not abide by any law that contradicts shari'a law, that they must struggle in order to restore the glory of Islam and the Muslims, and that he chose to immigrate to the United States instead of Communist Romania because he had no desire to be a Communist and because the liberty and freedom of speech in the United States enable people to freely preach Islam and propagate Islamic ideology. Imam Elturk said that the Jihad of the Quran and of the heart is the biggest Jihad Muslims can do and that in pursuit of justice, he sometimes has to "deal with" non-Muslims, LGBTQ people, and atheists. The lecture was delivered at the Evergreen Islamic Center in San Jose, California. Imam Elturk is the Imam of the Islamic Organization of North America (IONA) Masjid in Warren, Michigan and on March 8, 2020, U.S. Representative Ilhan Omar (D-MN) retweeted a video of Imam Elturk endorsing Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) for President. The video was uploaded to a Youtube channel run by Hafiz Khan, who is a scholar based in Santa Clara, CA.

Imam Ameer Mustapha Elturk: "Sending Muhammad was not only to establish justice in one small area of the globe, in Arabia. It was to make this system, Islam, prevail over the entire globe.

[...]

"There can be only two ways people can follow: Either the law of the king...

[...]

"Or the law of Allah. We have these two ways. Either... Now, we don't have kingship anymore. We have the law of the people. It is now, 'We, the People', right? We live in America, right? 'We, the People!' It is not the way of the people, as opposed to the way of Allah, Islam. When Allah said [in the Quran:] 'He may make it prevail over all other religions'... To make it prevail over the whole religion is to make it prevail over the entirety of man-made systems and ways of life – all put together... Whether it is liberal democracy, whether it is Communism, whether it is socialism, whatever way of life was invented by Man – Allah's way should prevail over that. Allah's way should prevail over that.

[...]

"Here we are today, in a condition of total misery and humiliation, would you not agree? Where is the glory of Islam? Where is the glory of the believers today? So we need to struggle to bring back the glory of Allah, the glory of Islam.

[...]

"Anything that contravenes the shari'a – we will not listen, we will not obey.

[...]

"Now, in some countries, you cannot... Yeah, you may be able to worship in mosques, but you cannot preach justice or criticize the president – in some parts of the world, whether it is in Syria, Egypt, or maybe other places in the world – so you look for a place where you can at least practice your religion and have the freedom to preach, propagate, and spread the ideology of our faith. That is why we are here.

[...]

"I had a choice to either go to Romania, and become a Communist – because I had a scholarship – or come to America and have to struggle on my own to make it and study. I chose to come to America simply because I am not inclined, nor have I any desire, to become a Communist.

[...]

"We have an opportunity here to practice our religion. Nobody tells us what to do. You can pray 50 times a day, nobody tells you what to do. We have an opportunity here because of the freedom of speech in this country, to propagate our religion freely, without the threat or intimidation of anyone.

[...]

"That is the biggest Jihad we can do – Jihad of the Quran, Jihad of the heart. Faith is an ideology. It manifests itself in Islam. Islam is a complete political, social, and economic system. They boast that their economic system is better than the Islamic economic system. They boast that their social structures are better than our social structure. No! We are way superior to them.

[...]

"I am part of that [social justice] movement of non-Muslims and sometimes I have to deal with LGBTQ people, atheists, and the like – but justice is justice."
