American Islamic Scholar Najeeb 'Al-Anjelesi': Muslims Should Not Participate In Riots Following The Death Of George Floyd; It Is Forbidden To Redress Oppression With Oppression

#8043 | 02:16
Source: The Internet - "Pure Islaam on Facebook"

On May 31, 2020, American Islamic scholar Najeeb "Al-Anjelesi," who is originally from Los Angeles, posted a video on the Pure Islaam Youtube channel as well as his Facebook page addressing the protests in the U.S. following the death of George Floyd. Al-Anjelesi, who had been teaching Islam in Montgomery, Alabama, as late as 2017, said that the riots in Minneapolis, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and elsewhere in the United States are considered strife, chaos, and corruption according to Islam, and that participating in these riots is forbidden according to Islamic texts. He said that the killing of George Floyd by police officers was undoubtedly an act of oppression, but that these riots are also forms of oppression. Adding that one cannot "redress oppression with oppression," Al-Anjelesi said that when a Muslim imitates the "stupidity" of the infidels, it will lead to his failure.

Najeeb 'Al-Anjelesi': "The Muslim that is participating in the disorder, the strife, and the chaos that is currently afflicting the city of Minneapolis, Minnesota - and in other places - for the Muslim that participates in this, [it means] that he imitates the hypocrites.

[...]

"That which we see occurring in the States, today, from what originated in Minneapolis and has now taken shape in other places, New York, Chicago, and even back home in Los Angeles - as I was talking to one of the brothers in LA earlier today - this is without a doubt considered to be strife and chaos.

[...]

"This, oh servant of Allah, is not befitting for a Muslim to participate in, while knowing that it is - within Islamic legislation - considered corruption.

[...]

"There is no doubt that the actions of these police officers against George Floyd, without a doubt it is oppression. Nobody is arguing that. It was oppression and it was going beyond bounds. However, the oppression of these particular police officers does not now justify - in Islamic texts - the redressing or the combating of that oppression with oppression. [...]

"These types of actions that the people are participating in are considered prohibited within the text.

[...]

"Imitating the infidels and their stupidity can and always will be a means to the failure of the Muslim."

Iranian Video Titled 'COVID-1948' Compares Israel To Coronavirus: Like Coronavirus, Israel Should Be Fought By Boosting Our Abilities; We Must Rid The World Of This Virus Forever

#8042 | 02:43
Source: Channel 2 (Iran)

On May 22, 2020, Channel 2 (Iran) aired a video titled "COVID-1948" comparing Israel to the coronavirus. The narrator said that the world has been shocked that coronavirus has prevented children from going out to play while Israel has been bombing hospitals and killing children. He said that it is clear in which "lab" Israel was created and added that becoming stronger and increasing solidarity and unity can defeat Israel just as it can defeat COVID-19. He said: "It is enough for the freedom-seeking countries of the world to join hearts [to] rid the world of this virus forever."

Narrator: "Virus: A small thing that causes diseases. In order to reproduce, it needs a live cell of a host, a body, a living being, or maybe a living civilization. Yes, maybe a civilization.

[...]

"As scientists were making efforts to understand viruses, a dangerous epidemic and 'virus' had been taking form, and no one had been able to identify it. It gradually spread, and in 1948, it was recognized by the UN: COVID-1948.

[...]

"It is surprising that COVID-19 has amazed the world, since it is much less potent and much more limited in scope than COVID-1948 - or better yet, the virus of Israel. World opinion is shocked as a result of the coronavirus outbreak, since children have been locked in their homes and can't go out and play. Hospitals are becoming the world's holiest places and nurses are becoming the world's superheroes. But for over 70 years, the world has been ignoring the oppressive virus of Israel, which affects [Palestinian] civilization and its children. Its hospitals have been demolished by the bombings carried out by this virus, and for years, its children have been locked in their homes for fear of missile attacks - that is, if they are still alive. While the coronavirus limited people's movement in the cities for a few days, for years COVID-1948 has been interrupting the lives of the oppressed Palestinians and it has stolen from them the right to live. The newspapers are discussing whether coronavirus was made in a lab, whereas it was proven long ago in which labs COVID-1948 had been created, and which country has supported it. According to scientists, the best way to fight viruses is to boost the abilities of the host's body. Coronavirus will be defeated because people have been taking it seriously and have made themselves stronger. By means of the solidarity and unity that people have formed and with mutual assistance, coronavirus will be defeated. This is the same thing needed in order to defeat COVID-1948, that is, the virus of Israel. It is enough for the freedom-seeking countries of the world to join hearts and help each other to rid the world of this virus forever."

Palestinian Journalist: Arab Society Too Is Steeped In Racism, Especially Against Blacks

June 3, 2020
Palestine | Special Dispatch No. 8777
The May 25, 2020 killing of George Floyd, a black man, by former police officer Derek Chauvin in Minneapolis, and the ensuing protests across the U.S.,  sparked many reactions in the Arab press,  which focused on accusing the U.S. of racism and discrimination, both towards its own citizens and towards other nations. In response to this discourse, Palestinian journalist 'Abd Al-Ghani Salameh published an article in the Palestinian Authority (PA) daily Al-Ayyam titled "What Racism Are You Talking About?". In it, he argued that Arab societies have also been steeped for millennia in racism and discrimination – against minorities, women and in particular blacks. He called on the Arabs to acknowledge this racism and denounce it before condemning the racism of others. The following are translated excerpts from his article:[1]  Image: Aljazeera.com, May 31, 2020 "The murder of the American citizen George Floyd by a police officer exposed the extent of the racism that prevails in American society. [But] this case is not the first of its kind. The [American] police is often too harsh with black suspects. [Moreover,] the manifestations of racism are not confined to police brutality but also characterize [other] broad sectors. According to the British Guardian, American blacks, including those from strong social sectors, suffer discrimination. They receive less pay compared to their white colleagues, receive different [quality] healthcare, and are sentenced to longer terms in prison [if they are convicted of a crime]. Judges are [also] quicker to sentence a criminal death if he is dark-skinned. "Although American society has begun to recover from expressions of racism since the abolition [of the discriminatory laws] in the late 1960s, and although [the U.S.] even elected a black president, Barak Obama, as well as some congressmen of various races and backgrounds, it appears that Trump's populist, racist right-wing discourse has revived  the racist fundamentalist right-wing groups and fanned the discourse of hatred against minorities and various ethnic groups [in the U.S.], including blacks… "Floyd's tragedy is also an opportunity for us Arabs to examine the forms of racism that have existed in our [societies] for millennia: racism against blacks, against women, against minorities, against people of other faiths or sects, and against the disabled. Just as we demand to expose the American, Israeli or European racism against the Muslim communities, we must also examine our own racism, acknowledge its existence, and only then resume our justified campaign against all forms of discrimination and racism. Otherwise our criticism of America’s and Israel’s racism is completely meaningless… "It seems that racism has been rooted in Arab societies for a very long time. Arab slave-traders plied the Indian ocean for centuries, carrying African slaves to the Arabian Peninsula and from there to the Old World countries. When Islam emerged and called for justice and non-discrimination, and encouraged the liberation of slaves because all men are equal, [Arab] society did not heed this divine call… "In Arab culture, the color black has negative, reprehensible and pessimistic connotations, while the color white is associated with cleanliness, beauty and optimism. This cultural [trend] is reflected in  various popular proverbs and sayings, such as the curse 'may Allah blacken your face' or the saying ‘a white penny for a black day,' [in which] money represents wellbeing and whiteness signifies happiness, whereas poverty and deprivation are [described as] black. An Arab proverb says, ‘When the black man is hungry he steals and when he is sated he fornicates’… Dark-skinned people are sometimes called ‘crows,’ likening them to these black birds, which are considered unlucky.  "The saying 'dark but beautiful' has racist overtones, as though beauty softens the 'crime' of being dark-skinned. Fair-skinned girls have always been more desirable from birth and tend to marry younger, whereas dark-skinned girls are less desirable and are often teased in school, and even in the media. "In addition to the racism against blacks, there are hundreds of examples in our [Arab societies] of racism against Asian and African servants and workers, especially in Lebanon and the Gulf, but also in the rest of the Arab countries. It comes to the point that they are beaten, arrested, deprived of sleep, humiliated and robbed of their pay – treatment that does not meet the lowest standards of humaneness. "Furthermore, there is even worse racist discrimination against women. A study conducted in 2014 by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) on discrimination against women worldwide placed Yemen in the first place, followed by Sudan and Somalia. Saudi Arabia and Lebanon were in first place [among the countries] whose family laws discriminate against women. The Arab woman is still exposed to beatings and humiliation by her husband and by other men in her family, who [can] deprive her of her inheritance and keep her from seeing her children if she is divorced. True, such behaviors are common throughout the world, but they are especially bad in Arab societies. "Similarly, there is also discrimination against the disabled, on [both] the official and popular levels. An example is the absence of laws protecting these sectors, or the non-implementation of the laws that do exist. [This discrimination is also reflected in] people's everyday behavior, in degrading and patronizing [attitudes] and pity, or in cruelty and disrespect. This is reflected in popular sayings.  "As for discrimination against anyone of a different faith or sect, it is the gravest of the phenomena [described here], especially in the recent decades, during which it has given rise to civil wars, sectarian conflicts, acts of terror against innocent people, a culture of takfir [accusations of heresy] and accusations of treason, and an attitude that disparages and excludes ethnic minorities and [various] small sects. "This racist culture clearly engenders many racist incidents and racist attitudes, some of which have also surfaced on social media, arousing anger – but most of these cases have been completely forgotten. "Racism in our [societies] is an ugly social phenomenon and a loathsome mental disorder, which we must purge from our hearts before we criticize others for their racism…”   [1] Al-Ayyam (PA), June 3, 2020.

Palestinian Chief Negotiator Saeb Erekat: Our Only Option Is To Reject The Deal Of The Century; Jared Kushner Is Ignorant And Arrogant

#8041 | 02:23
Source: Russia Today TV (Russia)

Chief Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat, who is also the secretary of the PLO's Executive Committee, said in a May 30, 2020 interview on Russia Today TV that the only option is to sever relations with Israel and the U.S. and to entirely reject the Deal of the Century, which he described as a biased, blind, extreme, and racist plan. He said that the PLO was established for the purpose of restoring sovereignty to Palestine, with East Jerusalem as its capital, and he said that Arab governments that cooperate with Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu are stabbing the Palestinians in the back. In addition, he said that senior White House advisor Jared Kushner is ignorant and arrogant, and that Kushner, Trump advisor Jason Greenblatt, and the "Biblical" U.S. Ambassador to Israel David Friedman should not be allowed to decide the future of the region.

Saeb Erekat: "There are no 'options.' There is only one option: Absolute rejection of the [Deal of the Century] plan. This is the most biased plan in the political history of the effort to resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. This is the most blind, extreme, and racist plan. When facing these issues that are presented to the world in an official plan, we have no option but to reject it completely, and to sever all our ties with the Israelis and the Americans.

[...]

"The PLO was not born to improve the living conditions of the Palestinians. We-the PLO-were born to restore a sovereign Palestine, with East Jerusalem as its capital. [We were born to put it back] on the geographical maps. Sovereign means independent. This was the birth of the PLO. This was the Palestinian birth.

[...]

"If a certain Arab country decided that it is in its best interest to meet Netanyahu, what can I possibly do? Do whatever you want, but know that you are stabbing me in the back. You are stabbing me in the back and, sadly, providing free services to a war criminal called Benjamin Netanyahu, who is standing trial, in his own courts, for corruption, and who will soon face trial in the international court. Why [meet him]? Because Kushner called?

[...]

"I have met Kushner 37 times. He is a blend of ignorance and arrogance. This is the truth. The fact that this ideologue, who is one of the biggest donors for the settlements... Him and Friedman, the Biblical ambassador, who was the head of the guards at the Beit El settlement, or Jason Greenblatt, whose children are studying in a Gush etzion settlement - these are the people who get to decide the future and fate of the region?"
