On February 1, 2025, a Telegram channel, which is affiliated with Iran-backed Iraqi militias, shared a post suggesting that Teheran has begun to produce nuclear warheads for intercontinental hypersonic missiles as part of its deterrence strategy in the region.[1]

The post coincides with the visit of the Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, to Washington. The PM is expected to hold talks with U.S. President Donald Trump to discuss containing Iran's nuclear capabilities.

"Iran is preparing nuclear bases and threatening to set the region on fire. Iran has begun producing nuclear warheads that can be carried on intercontinental hypersonic missiles," reads the post.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has told Al Jazeera TV that any attack by Israel or the U.S. on Iran's nuclear facilities would plunge the region into an "all-out war."[2]

In an interview with Al Jazeera Arabic during a visit to Qatar, Araghchi warned that launching a military attack on Iranian nuclear facilities would be "one of the biggest historical mistakes the US could make."
