On August 2, 2024, the Islamic State Central Africa Province (ISCAP) published[1] a photoset documenting an attack by the group on the "Christian village" of Bandulu, in the Lubero territory of the Democratic Republic of the Congo's (DRC) North-Kivu province. The photos show ISCAP operatives walking through the village and setting fire to houses, a corpse, and two burned construction vehicles belonging to a "Christian company."
ISCAP has issued several claims of responsibility for assaults in the village and its vicinity in recent days.[2] According to the group's descriptions, the photos were likely taken on July 27, when ISCAP operatives assaulted the village, beheaded 15 civilians and burned a vehicle and several houses, stores, and motorcycles.[3]
ISCAP has carried out multiple attacks against Christian villagers in northeastern DRC in recent months.[4]
