On October 31, 2024, the anti-Iranian armed group Jaish Al-Adl organization released on its official Telegram channel a Farsi-language statement criticizing the UN Security Council for issuing a statement against the "defensive jihad" of the Sunni Muslims of Balochistan province against the Shi'ite government of Iran.

The statement, titled "The Position Of The UN Security Council Against The Defensive Jihad Of The Oppressed Of Our Land Is Biased And Completely Political," argues that the UN Security Council adopted its position without considering the suffering of the Sunni Muslims at the hands of the Iranian officials.

The statement gives five points noting that the government of Iran is oppressive, and jihad against the Iranian government should be waged for the rights of the Baloch and Sunni people of the Iranian province of Balochistan.

The text of the statement is as follows:

"The Position Of The UN Security Council Against The Defensive Jihad Of The Oppressed Of Our Land Is Biased And Completely Political

"Yesterday [October 30], the United Nations Security Council issued a statement condemning the defensive action of the Muslim and oppressed people of [the Iranian province of] Balochistan against the criminal and oppressive regime of the Velayat-e Faqih [Velayat-e-Faqih, Guardianship of the Islamic Jurist, a term used for the Iranian Regime].

"Adopting such a position is highly regrettable because it is openly biased and influenced by the political conflicts and the conditions of the Middle East region; and it is clear that in adopting this decision, the oppressive action of the Velayat-e-Faqih regime against the ethnic and religious groups is not considered.

"It is necessary for all the members of the United Nations to pay special attention to the following matters in considering the issue of Balochistan.

  1. "The government of the Islamic Republic is strictly a sectarian regime, which was formed on the basis of religious hatred and ethnic supremacy, and based on this, it regulates and pursues its idealistic policies. For this reason, Sunni Muslims and Baloch people are systematically discriminated against and exposed to the violent behavior of the [Shi'ite] government of the Islamic Republic.

  2. "The Baloch Muslim people and a part of Sunni Iran, in a situation where they do not see any hope in changing the behavior of the Islamic Republic against them, based on the sense of defending their human dignity and also relying on the ruling of reason and shari'a in their legitimate defense, which is approved by Article 51 of the United Nations Charter, turn and respond to the Islamic Republic's humiliating and criminal behavior against them according to their cultural framework and religious beliefs. Currently, this defensive action of Baloch and Sunni Muslim people of Iran is being pursued within the framework of Jaish Al-Adl organization.

  3. "During the past 45 years, the Baloch people and Sunni Muslims of Iran have been continuously oppressed and discriminated against by the Islamic Republic. Despite this, efforts by Jaish Al-Adl organization, on behalf of the Baloch and Sunni Muslim people of Iran, before the events of Bloody Friday on 8 Mehr 1401 [September 30, 2022] and even nine months after that incident, have been made to reach a peaceful solution to improve the situation of the suffering Baloch and Sunni people of Iran and to end the violence, but these efforts were interpreted by the security leaders of the Islamic Republic regime as the weakness of Balochistan's defensive jihad. For this reason, Jaish Al-Adl organization has resumed its defensive jihad against the criminal regime of Velayat-e-Faqih.

  4. "Despite the fact that the criminal regime of the Islamic Republic is continuously using violent measures and adopting policies that harm the lives and dignity of Baloch and Sunni civilians, the Jaish Al-Adl organization has never tried to target even the civilians who are the forerunner of the regime's policies. For this reason, the defensive measures of Jaish Al-Adl organization have been limited to the repressive forces and the regime's military agents who are directly involved in the repression and crimes against our people.

  5. "The oppressed and suffering Baloch and Sunni people of Iran expect from all the countries of the world and international institutions, especially the Security Council, to investigate the issue of Balochistan away from the political and security margins between the governments and correct and fair positions will be adopted about it."
