Since early December 2024, the Islamic State Central Africa Province (ISCAP) has claimed the lives of dozens of defenseless Christian villagers in the Democratic Republic of the Congo's (DRC) North Kivu and Ituri provinces.[1]
On December 22, ISCAP operatives attacked the village of Kojo, in Lubero Territory, and beheaded 19 Christians before torching 30 homes. The fighters reportedly left the village "unharmed."
On the following day, December 23, ISCAP fighters, armed with machine guns, targeted an outpost of Congolese forces, killing one soldier and forcing those remaining to flee the site.
Separately, ISCAP operatives also attacked the Christian village of Robinte, where they beheaded six villagers and took four hostage. According to the ISCAP statement, the group's operatives returned to their bases safely after the attack.
In Ituri Province to the north, on December 17, ISCAP fighters attacked the village of Nigleza with machine guns, killing "several Christian nonbelievers," and torching five homes and two motorcycles.
Since December 2, ISCAP has claimed responsibility for dozens of attacks in DRC's North Kivu and Ituri provinces, as well as in Mozambique. These attacks killed over 42 Christians in just two weeks.[2]
