On January 29, 2025, it was reported that Iraqi refugee Salwan Momika, who had publicly burned copies of the Quran on several occasions, was shot to death in his apartment in the Swedish city of Södertälje, near Stockholm.[1]
Following the report, on January 30, an online supporter of the Islamic State (ISIS) wrote that there are many others like Momika, and called for attacks to target them.
A day later, the user published a post naming individuals based in Turkey, India, and the UK, calling for Muslims in those countries to target and kill them.
