On November 8, 2023, the Houthi Ansar Allah Movement in Yemen claimed responsibility on its X account for downing a U.S. MQ-9 drone which was "conducting aggressive acts of monitoring and espionage in the skies over the regional waters of Yemen as part of American military support for the Israeli Entity." The Houthis also reiterated in the statement that "Hostile movements will not deter the Yemeni armed forces from continuing to carry out military operations against the Israeli Entity in support of [ending] the oppression of the Palestinian people."
