On September 13, 2016, it was reported that Turkish hackers had launched denial-of-service (DoS) attacks against the web servers of the Austrian National Bank (OeNB). Officials said that Aslan Neferler Tim ("Lion Soldiers Team" in Turkish) had attempted to flood the bank's servers and bring them down. The hackers took responsibility for the attack on Twitter. The attack attempted to flood the bank's server with over five million emails per minute, launching two separate attacks until the server went down. No sensitive data was accessed.

It should be noted that six days earlier, the same group launched DDoS attacks against the website of the Vienna International Airport (See MEMRI CJL, Turkish Hackers Target Vienna International Airport, September 9, 2016).
