On October 24, 2023, Hamas's official Telegram channel shared a link to a new "alternative" channel, which, it noted, subscribers should follow if its primary channel is banned.
In a post, the official channel wrote: "We urge you to join the alternative channel of the Hamas Movement in order to stay informed on the official news of the movement in the event that this channel is banned."
Since Hamas's October 7 attack on Israel, the group’s social media accounts have been increasingly subjected to suspension and removal. Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and X, formerly Twitter, have banned accounts linked to Hamas, as well as removed thousands of posts expressing support for the group.
