On December 28, 2021 a Telegram channel affiliated with Iran-backed militias in Iraq published a poster threatening to carry out a drone attack on the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad. The poster depicted drones flying over an exploding U.S. Embassy, with the text "We are the Avengers." The post read, in English: "The day is near America, when Victory is reserved for those who are willing to pay its' price... Your days are numbered, and Victory belongs to the Nation of Iraq so say your goodbyes because your time on this earth is soon to expire."
