On September 4, 2022, a website affiliated with the Syrian opposition published a photo of what it described as a "Russian reconnaissance drone," saying it was downed east of Idlib. That same day, a Telegram channel which supports Hay'at Tahrir Al-Sham (HTS) reported that the drone was an experimental "allied" drone, and did not belong to Russian forces.
