On September 21, 2023, the Syrian opposition-affiliated Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) published an article that reviews the ways in which drugs are smuggled from Syria to Jordan, and the prominent role played by Hizbullah, which includes coordination with the Syrian security forces. The report highlights the wide use the smugglers make of drones, alongside ground-based smuggling operations from Syrian villages close to the border. It also reveals that Hizbullah supplies raw materials for drug production on Syrian territory.
