Shumoukh Member Announces Two New Arab Members Of Jama'at Al-Tawhid Wal-Jihad In Philippines, Publishes Exclusive Images Of Group's Weaponry

October 3, 2012

On October 2, 2012, Abu Aatika Al-Muhajer, a member of leading jihadi forum Shumoukh Al-Islam, announced that two jihadis from the Arabian Peninsula had joined Jama'at Al-Tawhid Wal-Jihad in the Philippines. Al-Muhajer attached several exclusive images featuring armed members of the group. However, their faces were obscured, and moreover, Al-Muhajer did not specify whether any of the images showed the new members.

Apparently, the images were primarily meant as a display of the groups' weaponry, which included an assortment of rifles, machine guns, one RPG, and grenades. In one image, at least six members of the group are shown watching a video shown on a laptop featuring what appears to be slain leader Al-Qaeda commander Osama bin Laden.
