On September 14, 2022, a pro-Islamic State (ISIS) Telegram channel posted a poll asking followers which platform is the best alternative to Telegram. It claimed that Telegram has banned many pro-ISIS channels and bots. The poll listed as options Element, Tox, Wire, or other suggestions, noting: "we need to leave Telegram ASAP."
Commenting on the poll, one user said many ISIS supporters already use Element. Another asked what Tox is, while a third stated that many supporters of Al-Qaeda, and all Al-Qaeda official groups have turned to Chirpwire, saying it is similar to Twitter, but is "better in terms of [account] deletion." Another user seconded Chirpwire as a proposed Telegram alternative.
