Pro-ISIS Telegram Channel Advises Operatives Against Taking Their Smartphones To Meetings, Even If They Are Turned Off

On June 24, 2022, a pro-Islamic State (ISIS) Telegram channel specializing in sharing information security tips published a series of posts advising ISIS operatives not to bring their mobile phones to ISIS-related meetings. The channel wrote: "Not only should you switch off your phone or take the battery out, you should not bring the phone to the location of the meeting." Additional posts advised operatives to use different passwords for their personal and social media accounts, and to make sure to turn off their phones' GPS function to avoid the discovery of their location.
