On January 11, 2022, the editor of a pro-Islamic State (ISIS) media outlet published a post warning ISIS supporters against consuming, sharing, or trusting unverified news reports from sources other than ISIS's official media outlets.
In the post, the editor noted that his channel receives unverified reports, but does not publish nor share them with others. After warning ISIS supporters against following blindly or being deceived by channels with high numbers of subscribers, the editor stressed that the only trusted sources and outlets are those officially endorsed by ISIS. He wrote: "Don't believe those who claim that they are fighters, media operatives, coordinators, [or] exclusive and official sources."
