On March 4, 2022 a pro-Al-Qaeda media outlet shared the some posts by a Telegram user, listing instructions for protecting the identities and private information of jihadis online. The posts read in Arabic:
"Among the main factors that lead to the discovery of the Mujahid Brother:
"1. The mujahid reveals himself.
"2. Wrong use of means of communication.
"3. Information leaks through relatives and friends.
"4. Gossip via the Internet, especially social networking sites.
"The leaders of the jihad in Syria are advised to reconsider their security strategy and keep their members updated. Filthy operations will increase, across several axes — so be careful, voyeurs have spread across every inch [of cyberspace].
"Information is an essential element in a dirty war. Due to the neglect of information secrecy by many of the mujahideen in Syria, our enemies now have a huge database about them. Don't be the reason for the bombing of your bothers."
