Pro-Al-Qaeda Outlet Claims Two U.S. Surveillance Aircraft Crashed In Syria; Rebel News Outlets Report Three Russian Surveillance Aircraft Crashed, Conflicting Reports State One Was American

On August 24, 2020 a pro-Al-Qaeda outlet posted on Telegram claiming that two U.S. surveillance aircraft collided and crashed in the Idlib area in Syria. According to Syrian-rebel news outlets, fighters shot down three surveillance aircraft on August 18 north of Idlib. Some reports claimed all three aircraft were Russian, while others reported that one belonged to the U.S.
