On June 5, 2012, a message was posted on the Ansar Al-Mujahideen Arabic Forum (AMAF) announcing that "Asad Al-Jihad2," a prominent writer on jihadi forums, had accepted an invitation by fellow jihadis to open an account on Twitter (@AsadAljehad2).

Asad Al-Jihad2 follows a growing number of jihadis who appear to have realized Twitter's massive potential in conveying their narrative and communicating with fellow jihadis and non-jihadis alike. The most recent example is the case of American Al-Shabab Al-Mujahideen commander 'Omar Hammami (Abu Mansour Al-Amriki), a designated terrorist, who has accounts on Twitter and Youtube.[1]
