Nasher News Launches Campaign In Support Of ISIS In Philippines, Highlights Twitter's Importance For Jihadi Media

Islamic State (ISIS) supporters have launched a media campaign today, August 18, 2017, in support of ISIS in the Philippines. The campaign was announced yesterday, August 17, and was supposed to begin that day. However, Nasher News, the ISIS-affiliated media body that is launching the campaign, later announced that the launch would be delayed for 24 hours; this might have been so that ISIS supporters could concentrate their media-related energies solely on the August 17 Barcelona attack for which ISIS claimed responsibility.

The campaign is directed at supporting ISIS's ongoing efforts to maintain control over parts of the city of Marawi in the Philippines.
