January 3, 2023

On December 31, 2022, the Iranian military conducted a drill in which an explosive drone targeted a simulated Israeli Navy base.[1] The Islamic Republic's official news agency published footage of the Ababil suicide drone being launched from the IRIS Lavan, a Hengam-class landing ship. The target was a mock navy base, designed to have a similar layout to Israel's Eilat Navy Base. The drill comes as part of a series conducted by the various branches of the Iranian army, dubbed "Zolfaqar 1401".
