On July 31, 2024, a user of the Islamic State (ISIS)-operated Rocket.Chat server noted that a Brazilian supporter had been arrested. Another user wrote that the lesson from the arrest are that Telegram and WhasApp are not secure. A third user responded, saying that the Brazilian supporter was actively recruiting new ISIS supporters and hypothesizing that someone must have submitted a police complaint about him, because the police do not investigate without first receiving a complaint. A fourth user wrote that the Brazilian man must have indeed been using Telegram or WhasApp, because had he been using the more secure Roket.Chat, he would not have been caught.
