On July 18, 2022, an official Islamic State (ISIS) media outlet on Telegram posted a 22-second clip showing the alleged downing of a Russian Wagner Group "reconnaissance drone" in eastern Mali's Menaka area on July 16, 2022.

Providing additional details about the downing of the drone, a pro-ISIS Telegram channel cited the "media office" of ISIS's Sahel Province as saying its operatives downed the Wagner Group drone using machine guns.
