On June 13, 2017, the French-language ISIS media outlet An-Nur Media Center published a document and a three-minute video tutorial explaining how to encrypt data on a hard drive on Android, Mac and Windows. Protecting data and communications is of great importance to ISIS members in the West for sharing news and operational knowledge, discussing ideas and tactics, planning attacks, and for other purposes. The An-Nur group has in the past released several similarly produced tutorials on secure communication and navigation online; in general, it publishes more cyber security content than ISIS media outlets in other languages.
