September 27, 2017

On September 24, 2017, it was reported that armed unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) belonging to Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) conducted several lethal strikes against ISIS positions in the Syrian desert near the Iraqi border. The attack destroyed two ISIS command centers along with an ISIS tank and a gas station, and killed and wounded dozens of fighters.

The IRGC drone strike was part of a larger military operation codenamed "Wa al-Fajr 3" carried out by the Syrian Army and its allies, with the aim of expelling the ISIS fighters and re-taking the Syrian city of Al-Bukamal, near the Iraqi border.
