Iran has unveiled 12 new cyber products, including a secure cell phone.
Twelve new cyber products were unveiled in late 2013 at a ceremony attended by Iranian Defense Minister Hossein Dehqan and Iranian Civil Defense Organization head. Gholam Reza Jalali.
Dehqan said of a new secure cell phone, "The biggest concern and need of cell phone users is security of communications to be immune from tapping, and this product can provide full and sustainable security to threats."
About a secure operating system produced jointly by SaIran, knowledge-based companies, and some Iranian universities, Dehqan said, "This product can fully remove one of the serious concerns that is dependence of the country's crucial and sensitive infrastructure on foreign-made operating systems."
Other products included an indigenized navigation system, telecommunications optical transmission system, Padvish anti-malware, cyber threats recognition and identification system, security operations center, a high-speed and high-capacity firewall and a software firewall.
Six months previously, Ali Akbar Velayati, top aide to Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, hailed Iranian IT engineers and experts for their progress, and said that Iran's arch foes, i.e. the U.S. and Israel, have been stunned by Tehran's cyber power. "Both the U.S. and Israel have [acknowledged] the Islamic Republic of Iran's cyber power," Velayati said.
He also said that compared with other sciences, cyberspace in Iran has shown a significant growth along with the progress of this science in the world.
In February 2014, Brig.-Gen Mohammad Hossein Sepehr, deputy to the Supreme Leader's representative at the IRGC, said that Iran has the world's fourth biggest cyber army, and stressed that the IRGC's power is seen as a major counterbalance to the U.S. and Israel in the region. He added that the IRGC with its cyber power and soft war capabilities is "the fourth biggest cyber power among the world's cyber armies."
He said that the IRGC's deterrence power has endangered U.S. interests in the region, and stressed that despite enemies' threats and sanctions, the IRGC's powerful will can crush the U.S. and the Zionist regime in the region.
