January 9, 2020

According to a report in Tehran Times,[1] on January 3, 2020, the Fajr Film Festival, a major film festival in Iran, announced that their Instagram account was banned because of posts that referred to IRGC Qods Force commander Qassem Soleimani as a "martyr". According to the report, the accounts of Iranians, including Iranian celebrities, were suspended for the same reason.

It is worth noting that Instagram had banned the accounts of several ranking Iranians, including that of Qassem Soleimani, in 2019.[2]
