On November 6, 2019, the Hay'at Tahrir Al-Sham (HTS) official Ebaa' News Agency published an op-ed by senior HTS cleric Anas Khattab warning the mujahideen of "the phenomenon of preoccupation," which diverts their attention away from focusing on pursuing real goals and to keep them busy in doing absurd things. Khattab also warned of spending too much time on social media sites, the Internet, and Telegram, saying that these activities destroy the goals of the mujahideen and are a waste of time.
