Hamas Al-Aqsa TV - A Designated Terrorism Financing Organization - Maintains Accounts On Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, And Facebook, And Offers App For Android Devices, Apple iPhones, And iPads

On March 18, 2010, the U.S. Treasury Department imposed sanctions on Hamas' Al-Aqsa TV and designated it a terrorism financing organization. The actions taken by the U.S. Treasury Department freeze all assets held by Al-Aqsa TV under U.S. jurisdiction, and prohibits U.S. persons from engaging in any transactions with them. The Treasury Department stated that Al-Aqsa TV is financed and controlled by Hamas and that it serves as a primary Hamas media outlet that airs programs "designed to recruit children to become Hamas armed fighters and suicide bombers upon reaching adulthood." It should be noted that U.S.-based online platforms are banned from hosting it.[1]

Nevertheless, Al-Aqsa TV is maintaining accounts in Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube, and its app is available for both Android phones and iPhones. As of this writing, its Instagram account has over 7,400 posts and 302,000 followers;[2] on Twitter, it has approximately 388,000 followers;[3] and its YouTube channel has 2,659 subscribers.[4]

A March 16, 2017 Instagram post on its account promoted its app, which is available for download from Apple's iTunes for iPhones and iPads and from Google Play for Android devices. It is also, according to the Instagram post, available for Windows phones.

"Aqsa Channel Live" Available For Download From Apple's iTunes[5]

Users wishing to download the Aqsa Channel Live app for an iPhone or an iPad from Apple's iTunes need first to download and install iTunes on the desired device, conduct a search for "Aqsa," select a version of the app for iPhone or iPad, and click "Get."

"Aqsa TV" Available For Download For Android Devices From Google Play

Users wishing to download the "Aqsa TV" app for Android phones and tablets from Google Play need to go to Google Play on the desired device, conduct a search for "Aqsa," and click "Install."[6]

"Aqsatvchannel" Instagram Account

As of March 20, 2017, Aqsa TV's Instagram account had approximately 303,000 followers.[7] On March 16, 2017, the account promoted the Al-Aqsa TV apps for Android devices, for Apple devices, and for Windows phones.

"Aqsa Tv Channel" On YouTube

The "Aqsa Tv Channel" was created in June 2016, and as of this writing had 232,514 views.[8] It also refers readers to the Al-Aqsa TV website, Aqsatv.ps.[9]

"AqsaTVChannel" Twitter Account

Al-Aqsa TV Channel's Twitter account was created in September 2011. As of March 20, 2017, it had approximately 388,000 followers.[10]

"Al Aqsa Channel" Facebook Page

The "Al-Aqsa Channel" Facebook page was created November 11, 2006. As of March 20, 2017, it has 138,221 likes.[11]
