On June 27, 2022, a Syrian opposition website reported that the previous evening, a drone most likely belonging to Global Coalition forces attacked an IRGC van carrying weapons as it traveled from Iraq to east of Deir Al-Zour, Syria. Citing unnamed sources, the report stated that the van was accompanied by three other vehicles operated by Iran-backed Iraqi militias, and that its two occupants were killed in the drone strike.
