On July 9, 2019, German-speaking fighters in Syria, most likely members of Hay'at Tahrir Al-Sham (HTS), posted a three-minute fundraising video on their Telegram channel. In the clip, they ask supporters to donate money to help them buy a motorcycle, weapons, tactical gear, and drones. On July 13, the channel posted a picture showing two fighters operating a drone. Text accompanying the post read: "While spying on the enemies of Allah with a drone."
