British ISIS Widow Sally Jones Converses On Twitter With Former U.S. Drone Operator Involved In Targeting Al-Awlaki

October 26, 2015

British ISIS member Sally Jones, the widow of Junaid Hussain, is actively continuing her late husband's hacking legacy, and has ramped up her efforts in recent weeks. Hussain was killed by a U.S. drone strike in August 2015. Jones was added to a list of ISIS members under sanctions by the UN, and on September 29, she was also added to the U.S. administration's list of "foreign terrorist fighters." Jones has been leaking the personal details of members of the U.S. military; specifically high-profile figures who were involved in targeting militants. Most recently, Jones has revealed the personal details of retired pilot and intelligence operator Mark McCurley, who spearheaded the Predator drone strikes which killed AQAP cleric Anwar Al-Awlaki. Jones' Twitter accounts have a limited lifespan, but her messages are far-reaching, in part because of widespread support by fellow ISIS accounts on social media, and because of the circulation of her notes on platforms such as Justpaste.it. For instance, her most recent account was only active for a few hours, and she has created three new Twitter accounts so far this week. On October 22, 2015, Jones revealed the Twitter account of former drone operator Brandon Bryant, who was a part of the mission that targeted Al-Awlaki. Bryant responded on Twitter to Sally Jones and expressed remorse for his participation in these military operations. Bryant is very vocal about his regrets, and is highly critical of the U.S. government's drone policy. The following is a review of the Twitter interaction between Jones and Bryant.

Sally Jones Exposes Bryant On Twitter

On October 21, Jones tweeted: "Here's another drone operator who killed 1626 Muslims then sobbed when he obliterated a child... & I got mummy's address too & his @backavar" [Brandon Bryant's username]. Bryant replied: "Hate will not bring peace. I am greatly sorrowful for what I've done... Let's stop the madness. I am not your enemy."

He added: "I was a fool because I had no idea what I was doing. I wasn't an idiot because I finally figured it out."

Reacting to Sally Jones' threat, Bryant tweeted: "Thank you everyone for the support for my mother's safety. I greatly appreciate it."
