On October 5, 2021, an anti-Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) Telegram channel published a post saying that four of the group's fighters were killed. According to the post, a Russian surveillance drone dropped an unidentified object with a parachute. The fighters, mistaking the object for a surveillance drone, took it to their hideout, where according to post, it later exploded, killing all four. The channel warned fighters to be careful when handling unidentified objects that are dropped by "suicide drones."
