On August 15, 2024, the media arm of Al-Qaeda's affiliate in the African Sahel, Jama'at Nusrat Al-Islam Wal-Muslimeen (the Group for Support of Islam and Muslims – GSIM) published a poster announcing the launch of an "official mobile app" for GSIM and Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM). The poster included a link for downloading the application.
