Al-Qaeda Al-Sahab Video Focuses On E-Jihad, Calls On Next Generation of Jihadi Hackers To Attack Major Corporations, Governments

June 10, 2011

On June 3, 2011, Al-Qaeda released a two-part video titled "Do Not Rely On Others, Take [the Task] Upon Yourself." The first part is devoted to the topic of al-jihad al-fardi ("individual jihad"), that is, jihad operations carried out by a single individual or by a small group,[1] while the second part focuses in part on the next jihad battlefield - electronic warfare.

In the electronic warfare section, the narrator sets out the conditions for anyone considering taking part, saying that anyone from anywhere with talent in such a field [i.e. computer science] is encouraged to play a role, provided that these participants' actions are "in harmony with the mujahideen's general plan."
