Following are excerpts from an interview with former Hizbullah secretary-general Subhi Al-Tufeili, which aired on Murr TV on January 30, 2012.
Subhi Al-Tufeili: "Since 1993, I have been saying that the Iranian policy will cause great harm to the Shi'ites especially, and that Iran must reexamine all its policies. Iran should unite the Muslim peoples rather than tear them apart, in an effort to bring about their annihilation.
"The Iranian leadership adopted the wrong approach not only here, but in Tehran as well. The worst dictatorships do not do what is being done today in Tehran. They prevent people from speaking, they attack people. They do the worst things.
"I am very sad to say that this is in violation of the shari'a. [...]
"The Rule of the Jurisprudent is not part of the shari'a. It is a heretical doctrine that has been developed by some Muslim jurisprudents from the Safavid era to this day.
"Most of the Shi'ite jurisprudents - more than 95% - know that this is a heretical doctrine with no foundation in the shari’a." [...]
