In a statement on the reelection of U.S. President Barack Obama, the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (the Taliban's shadow government) demanded that the U.S. quickly withdraw its troops from Afghanistan.
Following is the text of the statement:
"The American people elected [Barack] Obama by voting once again, and helped him reach the White House. The Islamic Emirate notes the following points:
"1. Obama should take full advantage of this opportunity, and the American governing machine should abandon [the task of] protecting the world, focus on resolving its people's problems and difficulties, and not push America further into the flames of international hatred.
"2. The American people are tired of war and unnecessary military expenditure; Obama has done… [unclear] to this situation, and should end the… war by focusing on the demands and aspirations of the [American] people, and save America from [committing] war crimes…
"3. Obama knows that the American nation is tired of the losses of war and the backbreaking economic crisis. Do not delay in withdrawing the forces of aggression from our country [Afghanistan], and to end the cause of the deaths of American troops.
"4. The forces that America is backing in our country are the most backward and unwanted faces of our nation. Americans will face more problems by continuing its support for them, and will bear more losses of life and assets.
"5. Obama may have realized that the Americans have lost the war in Afghanistan; if so, they [the Americans] should leave our pious land as soon as possible, instead of telling lies, and should worry about their country and their people.
