In an e-book published by an Urdu-language jihadi Internet forum, Al-Qaeda responds to the message of Pakistani religious scholar Tahir-ul-Qadri, who in January launched a failed bid to unseat the elected government in Pakistan. Qadri, who reportedly also holds Canadian citizenship and returned to Pakistan in December 2012, gained fame in the West as a moderate cleric after issuing a fatwa in March 2010 on terrorism and suicide bombings in Pakistan.
